Kali Newcastle (The Kalisadors Club) offers training in Filipino Martial Arts to provide opportunities for ordinary people to develop extraordinary skill with sticks and blades. Our curriculum includes study of De Campo 1-2-3 Original (the "Juego Todo" stick-fighting system of the Caballero family), Dos Manos Largos (two-handed staff and longsword), Kali Mano (close-quarters stick & blade-focused fighting methods of the Visayan warrior), Daga Defensa (unarmed defence against a knife-wielding attacker), and Mano Mano (unarmed striking, kicking & grappling).

Programs & Class Schedule

Our Kali program will introduce you to the fundamental technical and tactical principles of the Filipino martial art of the stick and blade, including its Largo Mano (Long Range) and Corto Mano (Close Quarters) fighting styles. The curriculum includes:

Largo Mano (Long-Range)
* De Campo 1-2-3 Original - The "Juego Todo" stick-fighting system of the Caballero family.
* Dos Manos Largos - The two-handed staff method influenced by Spanish longsword.

Corto Mano (Close-Range)
* Kali Mano - The close-quarters stick & blade fighting methods of the Visayan warrior.
* Daga Defensa - Visayan methods of unarmed defence against a knife-wielding attacker.
* Mano Mano - Unarmed striking, kicking & grappling.

The minimum age for Kali classes is 13 years and over. It is possible to practice Kali well into your mature years. Beginners are welcome. Our classes are gender friendly.

Wednesdays 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Saturdays 10:00 am - 11:30 pm

After the technical aspects of our classes have concluded, students are encouraged to refine their Kali skills through free sparring, using padded sticks or latex swords, fencing masks, and gloves for your safety and comfort. This additional optional 30 minutes of the class (finishing at approximately 8:30 pm Wednesdays and 12:00 pm Saturdays) is focused on attribute development, tactical instruction, and lots of sparring and feedback.

Our Senior Instructor, Robert 'Espada' Parkes (BEd Hons, PhD), holds NCAS Level 1 Coaching Accreditation through Kung-Fu Wushu NSW Inc. a member organisation within the Martial Arts Industry Association (MAIA).
