A 4th Dan in Karate Do which he has been practicing since his teens and a 2nd Dan in Taekwon Do with four years spent in Korea, Jean has been initiated to many other Martial Arts : Vietvodao (black belt), judo, aikido, kendo, nunchaku, taichi, capoeira and thai kickboxing; he has trained and taught in many countries and even introduced Shotokan Karate International ( S.K.I.) in India from 1985 to 1987 with an Official Letter of Mission signed by Hirokazu Kanazawa Senseï. Jean teaches efficiency as Martial Arts are lethal knowledge, but above all, with a holistic approach that incorporates meditation in every session and the understanding of one’s own vital energy: your body becomes stronger and flexible, your emotions calm and serene, your mental as clear as a limpid lake ( the Japanese “ Kokoro” ) and you ultimately gain in spiritual elevation.
Each class is led by a qualified Karate instructor who will go through stretching/ warm up/ fitness exercises, Kihon (techniques without partner), Kata (choreographed sequence of techniques against multiple attackers) and Kumite (sparring exercises). We teach and practice traditional Shotokan Karate under the legacy of Frank Nowak Sensei and the leadership of Hirokazu Kanazawa Sensei and his sons Nobuaki and Daizo Senseis. Advanced classes incorporate the realistic teaching of Practical Self Defense (PSD) and we follow the Kase Ha System under the guidance of Arie Farcas Sensei.
We are affiliated to Kase Ha Australia (KSKA) with 7th Dan Arie Farcas Sensei as Chief Instructor and National Coach. As a member of the NSW Karate Federation and of the Australian Karate Federation (AKF), our tuition and Diplomas are officially recognized.
